The governing philosophy set down by Dr. Pauline E. King is that our children should remain in a village community. While we attend to the basic needs of our children, we also strive to replicate family life on our campus. We live simple lives with the comfort of knowing that we have a strong roof over our heads, nutritious food and the love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The children's weekday schedule is as follows: 5:30 am Wake-up bell
5:30 - 6:45 am Cottage duties and preparation for school
6:45 – 7:00 am Prayer

The Cottages, Nursery and Boys' Hostel are each run by a separate Warden. A number of single-female KMS faculty members also live on campus, and assist the children with their studies. On Saturdays, the children attend a half-day of school and have free time in the afternoon. On Sundays, a Pastor from the local Church of South India conducts a church service.
The Cottage Mothers help care for the younger residents both in the nursery and in the cottages. They also staff the centralized kitchen to provide three healthy meals per day for all those living on campus, as well as snacks.
We also see to the education of the children. Currently 110 of our children attend the King's Matriculation School from LKG to 10th Standard. Those children who are unable to perform in an English-medium Matriculation School are sent to Tamil medium and state-syllabus schools in order to ensure their success in the 10th Standard Public Exams. Those who excel in these exams are sent on for higher studies through to the 12th Standard Public Exam. Some will then continue on through Diploma or Degree courses in such fields as: Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacology etc. The rest of the children are given vocational training both on campus in the Bakery and GMU, and at outside schools. This can include tailoring, carpentry, welding, industrial arts and secretarial work. Lastly, we have two blind children and five mentally retarded children, all of whom have been admitted to appropriate institutions. Those who have completed their training are returned to their surviving relatives, or found a suitable life partner. Those in higher studies are supported until they have completed their degree. Every effort is made to ensure our children's success upon leaving our institution.

We also meet the health care needs of our residents at Pannai. Every month we issue individual soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, along with shampoo, hair oil etc. We have a resident nurse and a fully stocked infirmary with space for sick residents to be isolated. Seriously ill residents are taken to SLRTC Hospital or CMCH for additional treatment. At the beginning of each school year we provide new sandals, shoes, back packs and uniforms for all our children made possible by our kind sponsors abroad.

Lastly and most importantly, the spiritual needs of our children are attended to on a daily basis. One cottage grandmother oversees the daily prayers and Bible readings as well as Sunday classes. We have evangelists who visit on a weekly and monthly basis and conduct Bible classes and teach songs which are then sung during prayer times. We thank God for their ministry here on our campus.
